This fun four-week (2 hours per week) course with Michelle Douglas will give participants an understanding of the individual elements that are essential to creating a successful romance novel. In a lively and supportive atmosphere, incorporating group discussion, guided workshop exercises, and selected readings from the genre, participants will practise a variety of techniques that will help them create genre-specific characters and plots, and to start writing a romance story of their own.

About Michelle: Michelle has been writing for iconic romance publisher Harlequin Mills & Boon since 2007 and has, to date, written more than thirty romance novels. “Truly funny and moving”, “Poignant and absolutely impossible to put down,” and “Sparkling with warmth, humor and charm” is just a small sample of what the critics have had to say about Michelle’s award-winning romances. She’s a sucker for happy endings, heroines who have a secret stash of chocolate, and heroes who know how to laugh. She has recently completed a PhD at the University of Newcastle. Her subject area was Romance (of course) and Feminism. She lives in Newcastle with her own romantic hero, a house full of dust and books, and an eclectic collection of 60s and 70s vinyl.
